Philadelphia Eagles: Here’s some great news on Avonte Maddox
Philadelphia Eagles fans can breathe a little easier after we’ve all gotten some good news on Avonte Maddox. It looks like he’s going to be fine.
It appears that Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Avonte Maddox is going to be okay. Any fan of any team can crack a smile knowing that. For every one of us who watched the game, tons of thoughts raced through our minds as Maddox laid on the not-so-frozen turf of Lambeau Field for a little over ten minutes.
To Maddox, it had to feel like an eternity. ’29’ went down as the Green Bay Packers were driving for what they hoped would be a game-tying touchdown. He’d leave on a stretcher as the Packers and Eagles fans in attendance gave him a standing ovation on his way off of the playing field.
Only the good Lord in Heaven knows how the Eagles were able to refocus and play football after that, but they did. Maddox’s replacement, Craig James was targeted on the very next play. Aaron Rodgers’ final attempt of the night was broken up, intercepted by Nigel Bradham, and Philly left Wisconsin with a much needed 34-27 victory that evened their record at 2-2.
Almost immediately, our thoughts and prayers were back with Maddox. We have some good news though. According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Maddox was discharged quickly and able to fly home with his teammates after being sent to a local hospital.
The Eagles eased the minds of fans last night, reporting Maddox had movement in all of his extremities. Maddox followed all of that on Friday with a tweet of his own. Take a look.

Baseball may be ‘America’s Pastime’, but the NFL is America’s passion. Injuries are, no doubt, the part of any sport that we hate the most, but it’s good to finally get some good news on the injury front for Philly. Everyone in the Eagles’ fan base is buzzing on the Friday following some success in a must-win game. Hopefully, this news will bring them some joy as well.
