7. Brandon Shell, right tackle
Brandon Shell‘s uncle Art Shell was the first African-American head coach in the NFL. He was also inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a player in 1989. Jets fans are hoping Brandon is headed for the same type of greatness.
Before he can be seen as a legend, he’ll have to first become an All-Pro. That hasn’t happened yet. Still, the Eagles are hoping their pass rush from the front four can wake up versus Shell and his counterpart on the other side of the Jets offensive line, left tackle Kelvin Beachum.
8. Ryan Kalil, center
Ryan Kalil made five Pro Bowls with the Carolina Panthers (2009–2011, 2013, 2015) before deciding to call it a career after 12 seasons. Retirement lasted for about seven months and a day as New York was able to lure him out of retirement with a one-year deal.
Clearly, an 0-3 start wasn’t what he was expecting, but we’ll all have to see how things go the rest of the way.
