Defensive Rookie of the Month: T.J. Edwards by default

Well, this one would have to go to either T.J. Edwards or Shareef Miller by default, wouldn’t it? Miller was the only defensive player the Eagles took in the 2019 NFL Draft. Edwards went undrafted but was signed by the Eagles on May 9th of 2019.

His skillset allowed a few pundits to believe he was a steal. Edwards shined with the Wisconsin Badgers but was labeled as being slow after turning in a slow 40-yard dash time. Neither one of them has been able to make a mark yet by coming up big in a regular-season game, but the fact that Edwards was at least available for all four of them gives him the edge here.

Plus, he was a tad better in the preseason and in training camp.

Defensive MVP: Nigel Bradham

Who do you go with here? Rodney McLeod? He’s been solid. So has Andrew Sendejo. Do you value total team tackles and consistency? You’d have to bring up both Nigel Bradham and Zach Brown if you did, but you’d quickly have to remove Brown for some decisions and some penalties that were maddening.

In the end, we live in a world where most sports fans harp on memories that are more recent, so let’s all give Nigel Bradham some love because our latest memory of him was that game-clinching interception versus the Green Bay Packers. Tip your caps to Craig James for the assist.
