It appears Sixers star Joel Embiid has some explaining to do.

When the Philadelphia Eagles are quiet, sometimes the mind wanders. They don’t throw flags in the NBA, but maybe they should start. Even if it doesn’t become a part of the professional basketball game, it would make things interesting. Imagine what it would have been like to see Dick Bavetta blow the whistle and throw a little yellow laundry on the court at the Wells Fargo Center or back in the days of the old Spectrum. If he was still around, he’d definitely have to throw a few flags on something 76ers star Joel Embiid did recently.

Did anybody notice what this guy did on Twitter? Are we all really going to behave as though we didn’t see him tweet the words ‘Go Pack Go’ prior to the Eagles’ Thursday Night Football contest versus the Green Bay Packers?

Don’t worry. There’s evidence.

The ITI staff was going to let this one go, but we couldn’t.

Didn’t this guy show up at Super Bowl LII? Wasn’t he captured by NFL Films doing the famous ‘E-A-G-L-E-S, Eagles’ chant? Recently, Philly’s favorite center made an appearance on Zach Lowe’s ‘Lowe Post’ podcast on ESPN to explain this atrocity.

Here’s an excerpt from some nice work done by Lowe.

"I am a Packers fan. I have a good relationship with Aaron Rodgers. When I was at Kansas, he came to one of our practices, and I got to talk to him. (He’s a) great guy. Since then, I’ve been following him (and) before I got to Philly, I was already following him because he was just a great guy to talk to, and that’s how I became a Packers fan, so I’ve always supported him."

There’s more, and here it is.

"If the Eagles play any teams in the league, of course I’m gonna support the Eagles because I’ve embraced the city, and I’ve fallen in love with the city. That’s what I’m going to do because I like the Eagles, but when it comes to the Packers, I mean that was before Philly. I don’t know. You gotta stick with your teams."

We love you too Mr. Embiid, so we’ll let this slide, but going forward, if you’re an Eagles fan and you see Joel Embiid anywhere, give him a high five. Keep working on him. He’ll come around eventually. This issue of split loyalty isn’t going to fly, especially not in the ‘City of Brotherly Love’.
