Carson Wentz endorsed by potential NFL Hall of Fame quarterback
The Carson Wentz haters aren’t going to like this one. Recently, ’11’ got a glowing review from someone who knows a thing or two about playing the quarterback position.
It seems like forever ago, but once upon a time, Philadelphia Eagles vice president and general manager Howie Roseman (he was the executive vice president of football operations then) made two trades prior to the 2016 NFL Draft that gave Philly in the second-overall selection. You know how that turned out. Philadelphia landed their quarterback of the future, former North Dakota State Bison standout Carson Wentz.
A little over three years later, it’s safe to say that’s a decision that worked out pretty well.
Sure, there have been injuries and the fear of injury follows him constantly. Sure, he’ll miss a throw here and there, but name any young signal-caller who’s better. When Tom Brady and Drew Brees finally decide to call it a career, the NFL will, then, belong to some very capable passers of the pigskin.
Right now, Wentz has to be labeled as one of the five best quarterbacks in the NFL, and the only other of the young guns that could even be considered as being better would be Patrick Mahomes.
Just ask Boomer Esiason.
On October 3rd, he joined Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie on their highly popular show on 94 WIP-FM. In February, he hopes to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. He was recently given the nod as someone the committee was eyeing. To celebrate the NFL’s 100th season, a decision was made to induct an expanded class this time around.
If they’re looking to add a quarterback, Esiason, along with former Eagles legends Donovan McNabb and Randall Cunningham, are among the best options out of everyone that’s being considered. Maybe one day, Wentz will be in that conversation. That will be a long time from now, but here’s the good thing if you’re an Eagles fan. He’s off to a good start.
