Could Stefon Diggs be an option for the Philadelphia Eagles?

A 2-2 start couldn’t have been what the Philadelphia Eagles envisioned for themselves after the first month of the 2019. A slew of injuries on both sides of the ball, as well as underwhelming play from the wide receiver position has been cause for concern, but there is silver lining, as one of those issues could be fixed if a move is made for a disgruntled receiver that the Eagles have a bit of recent history facing.

Stefon Diggs has become one of the marquee names in terms of wide receivers at the professional level. Diggs has never caught less than four touchdowns and no fewer than 720 yards since entering the NFL in 2015.

He entered this season coming off his best year yet, eclipsing over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career and hauling in nine touchdowns, which was also a career high.

The 2019 campaign has been a rocky one for the 26 year old. He’s caught just one touchdown and racked up just a little over 200 receiving yards thus far. Minnesota Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer has changed his system, to feature a more run heavy offense with Dalvin Cook, while taking the ball out of the hands of quarterback Kirk Cousins and his receivers.

This has lead to speculation that Diggs wants out of Minnesota, and that is where the Eagles come in.

The Eagles have had their own receiving issues to deal with. The first blow came when DeSean Jackson was ruled out for the foreseeable future.

This was a major blow for the Eagles and left them without a legitimate deep threat that Jackson was expected to be.

Diggs could add consistency and speed to the Eagles offense if Jackson is out for a while.

The 2-2 Eagles could just as easily be 4-0 had Dallas Goedert, Nelson Agholor and JJ Arcega-Whiteside not faltered on several key plays.

With Alshon Jeffery still working his way back to being 100-percent healthy, Diggs would be a phenomenal option on the outside that Carson Wentz could trust to catch any ball thrown his way.

Moreover, Diggs just signed a new 5-year, $72 million contract, one that is rather team friendly for a player of his talent level.

Howie Roseman may want to look into Diggs. No one knows when Jackson will be back and some of the younger receivers are struggling. Diggs would improve that in a hurry.
