From Steve Young to Carson Wentz: Comparing young NFL stars to a legend
The NFL’s future is in good hands with stars like Carson Wentz, but in watching the young stars, sometimes you can be reminded of legends from the past.
Sometimes, regardless of what team you cheer for, you can look at Carson Wentz or any of these young NFL stars, especially the ones who play quarterback, and you might be tempted to forget about something. It’s had to find guys who will live up to their potential.
Maybe they’ll make a few Pro Bowls. Hopefully, you’ll find a Hall of Famer, but rarely does the generational talent come along.
It’s a natural cycle in Pro Sports, occasionally, an NFL Draft will give you John Elway, and Jim Kelly, and Dan Marino. As a fan, you wonder how the league will ever replace them when they’re gone, but it does. Along comes Brett Favre, and Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady, and Drew Brees.
Favre and Manning have moved on to the next chapter in their lives. Aaron Rodgers, and Brady, and Brees will do the same one day. Then, the league belongs to Carson Wentz, and Patrick Mahomes, and DeShaun Watson, and they’ll rule until someone comes along to take the NFL from them.
Hopefully, the new stars will provide us with many of the same memories as the ones we cheered for in the past. To be honest, many of them already have. Here are a few of the new guys who hope to reign in the NFL for years to come and the guys who preceded them that share many of the same characteristics.
