Philadelphia Eagles: 5 Potential trade targets at wide receiver

The Philadelphia Eagles need help at wide receiver. Here are five players they could target as the trade deadline approaches.

Who would’ve thought that by October, we would be exploring the wide receiver market for a trade involving the Philadelphia Eagles? Back in the summer, publications and fans were making the case that the Eagles could potentially have the deepest and most talented pass catchers in the NFL. Yet, here we are at this point in the season.

How did we get here? Well, injuries for starters. Over the summer, Eagles head coach and play-caller, Doug Pederson, wanted the offense to revolve around veteran speedster, DeSean Jackson. It worked in week one when Jackson totaled for over 150 yards and two touchdowns.

By week two, though, the often-injured veteran has rarely seen the field as he’s been out for weeks three through five, and is ruled out this Sunday as well. Right now, Jackson hasn’t been practicing and doesn’t have a return set.

As for the other wideouts, they have been a bit underwhelming. Alshon Jeffery has been solid, but he cannot do it on his own. Nelson Agholor had a couple of flashes, but for the most part, he has underperformed. And the most unfortunate factor this season has been that Eagles’ second-round rookie, JJ Arcega-Whiteside has been a ghost.

On paper, the Eagles were solid at wide receiver. On the field, they are hardly productive. Once again, we’re watching the Eagles attempt throws to tight end Zach Ertz more than desired, as the wide receivers simply aren’t cutting it.

At this point, a trade couldn’t hurt the Eagles. While last year’s deadline deal for Golden Tate didn’t help the Eagles much, that situation shouldn’t have them shying away from taking a gamble once again. If Jackson can’t get back on the field, the Eagles have no choice but to find a solution. So with the deadline approaching in a few weeks, here are five prospects the Eagles could target.
