Eagles HC Doug Pederson gives an update on DeSean Jackson
Monday morning, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson gave an update on DeSean Jackson during an appearance on 94 WIP-FM’s Morning show.
It’s almost comical that the entire threat of the Philadelphia Eagles‘ offense being explosive vanished when DeSean Jackson left the playing field versus the Atlanta Falcons without even catching a pass. Maybe everyone’s laughing to keep from crying, but this Eagles team is inconsistent and, at times, they’ve been atrocious without him. Doug Pederson and his coaching staff have a lot of work to do leading up to their date with the Dallas Cowboys.
In Week 1, he torched the Washington Redskins for two touchdowns. Both were longer than 50 yards. Over the last four weeks, the Eagles have only been able to complete five passes over 30 yards. All five of those passes had Miles Sanders on the receiving end. The longest reception all season, other than those, has been 26 yards, and that’s been done twice, by both Zach Ertz and Alshon Jeffery.
Who would have thought a 32-year-old wide receiver’s absence, one who hasn’t played an entire 16-game slate since 2013, would be so massive? After all, the Eagles were stocked with the likes of Alshon Jeffery, Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert, Nelson Agholor, and a talented rookie in JJ Arcega-Whiteside,
If you would have gone to Las Vegas and bet the Eagles would lead the league in drops and that Philly’s offense would be this anemic, you would have won a lot of bets. We haven’t even brought up the depth they were believed to have at running back.
Here we are, and every Eagles fan patiently waits for ’10’ to return. Here’s what Pederson had to say on the subject during a Monday-morning talk with Angelo Cataldi on 94 WIP-FM’s Morning Show.
"He’s been running. He’s been running on land… We’ve had him in the pool. We’ve had him in an Alter G, which is a body-weight treadmill, so we’ve had him running. He’s been on land since last week, and he’s feeling good so I’g going to meet with my medical team, our doctors and trainers here in a little bit, and I’ll probably have more of an update at noon."
Noon came on Monday, and here was what he said. ‘He’s working. He’s day-to-day. We’ll see by the end of the week’. Come on, did anyone think that wouldn’t be the answer? Another day rolls on at the Novacare Complex.
