It took some time to find the words, but once they were found, it becomes easy to acknowledge how much Connor Barwin meant to Philadelphia Eagles fans.

This is a letter to former Philadelphia Eagles great Connor Barwin. Sure, you’ll probably never read it though the desire is obviously that you would. Sure, it’s just one Eagles fan’s perspective of how great you were in the midnight green (there are many), but the point about penning something of this nature is this.

There haven’t been many men who walked through the door who more was expected of that didn’t deliver to the level of Barwin on gamedays.

Mr. Barwin, Eagles fans everywhere would like to thank you for every single one of those 214 tackles, those 31.5 sacks, those six forced fumbles, and that interception.

64 games fly by in a hurry. See Mr. Barwin, as a former Eagle, your fans here (yes they still love you) won’t ever forget 64 games with 64 starts. They’ll never forget that Pro Bowl season in 2014. They’ll never forget that, despite the fact you weren’t given the nod, those other three seasons were just as special.

Mr. Barwin, if you ever sit down with your grandchildren or you need help in explaining what you meant to Eagles fans, say this to whoever is listening.

Next. Every jersey number’s best player in Eagles history. dark

Your place in Eagles lore is secure. You would have fit in any era of Eagles football, and you would have fit in any defensive scheme whether that be Buddy Ryan‘s, or Bud Carson‘s, or Jimmy Johnson‘s or Jim Schwartz‘s. If for whatever reason that wouldn’t have been the case, the scheme needs to be altered.

Only you know what the next step in your journey is, but one thing can be said without hesitation. Every Eagles fan wishes you the best while you spend time deciding what that is.
