Add Brian Westbrook to the list of Philadelphia Eagles legends who have called out the team.

The Philadelphia Eagles have been the subject of widespread criticism over the past few days. Brian Westbrook, a former team legend, recently added his two cents to the conversation.

A loss to the Dallas Cowboys is a cardinal sin in Philadelphia. It’s an affront to the fans and people of the city on par with a crime you could legitimately go to jail for. When Philly got blown out by the Cowboys in front of the world on Sunday Night Football, the city and its former stars took to social media to voice their disgust. Count Westbrook’s voice as one of the more impactful.

While speaking with Bleacher Reports Adam Lefkoe, Westbrook berated the team for its lack of competitive fire. He also pointed out how the roster has aged. They’re the second-oldest roster in the NFL.

Westbrook doubled down and called out the locker room for a perceived lack of effort in a critical division game. Lefkoe’s look of surprise when Westbrook calls the current roster “soft” speaks volumes. This is a man that loves the Eagles but is fed up with what he’s seen on the field so far this season. Here’s a clip.

Westbrook wasn’t the only former Eagle to voice public displeasure with the team. Former All-Pro linebacker Seth Joyner added his commentary throughout the game on Sunday, calling out Nelson Agholar in particular on the Eagles post-game show by saying that the oft-maligned wide-out ‘had nothing but puppy in him’. The indication being that Agholar, much like most of this team, has no fire and no fight.

Joyner’s comments caused a ripple effect across Philadelphia media, and NBC Sports Philadelphia’s official twitter account couldn’t help but cover it:

Next. Ertz's disappearing act is damaging to the Eagles offense. dark

This is an Eagles team that walked into the 2019 season shrouded in superlatives. They were called the deepest roster in the league, Super Bowl favorites, and one of the best coached teams as well. Through seven weeks, none of those adjectives still hold. This team needs to take a hard look in the mirror and learn from the voices of the past. If they aren’t able to regroup, this season could already be lost in more ways than just on the field.
