NFL writer Marc Sessler suggests a trade scenario involving the Philadelphia Eagles selling wide receiver, Nelson Agholor.

Two seasons ago, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor had what many considered to be a breakout year with the Birds. That came during his third season, after getting selected as a first-round pick back in 2015, under Chip Kelly’s management.

Agholor would only play with Kelly for a year, but his rookie season was quite underwhelming with him anyway. Despite cleaning the house when Doug Pederson and Howie Roseman came back into the picture, the Eagles held onto Agholor, in hopes he could eventually pan out.

Well, that didn’t happen during his Sophomore season, either. After year two, many wanted Agholor out of Philly — but the Eagles kept the faith. While his third season was so much better than the first two, you have to understand he surpassed a bar that was set extremely low.

Therefore, when Agholor regressed in year four, trade rumors began to creep in because it was clear he’s just not a first-round caliber receiver and never was. Here we are now in 2019, and Agholor is playing on his fifth-year option, getting paid over $9 million in salary.

With key injuries to the wide receiver corps, Agholor was expected to step up and help contribute in a big way. Unfortunately, he hasn’t done that. And over the last two weeks, Agholor’s production has not only been non-existent — but his effort has also been very poor.

At this point, many are begging the Eagles to dish Agholor out once again. With the trade deadline approaching, some believe Agholor could be sitting on the trade block. One NFL writer in particular, sees a scenario where Agholor could get sent to an AFC team.

Nelson Agholor to reunite with Frank Reich?

Around the NFL Writer, Marc Sessler recently put together one buy or sell proposal for each AFC team. When he got to the Indianapolis Colts, Nelson Agholor’s name was involved. At this point, the Eagles are expected to be buyers at the trade deadline.

However, don’t be surprised if Howie Roseman attempts to sell off a few names as well. As there were rumors the Eagles were trying to move Agholor all offseason long, this is truly Roseman’s last shot at making it happen. Knowing the Eagles most likely won’t re-sign Agholor at the end of the 2019 season, why not attempt to get some value for him?

So what does Sessler suggest? A trade that sends Agholor to the Colts in exchange for a 2020 fourth-round pick. While the compensation isn’t high, that’s just about what Agholor is worth at this point in his career. A fourth-rounder isn’t a great pick by any means, but it could be used in a future package to acquire a higher pick, or maybe even a player.

There’s no guarantee the Eagles will deal Agholor, considering their struggles in reliable depth at the wide receiver position. But if a team like the Colts are willing to give up a reasonable price for the wideout, then the Eagles should strongly consider it. At this point, the Eagles are pretty much wrapping up the Agholor era regardless — so why not gain value for him?
