Philadelphia Eagles: Orlando Scandrick teaches Howie Roseman a lesson
Former Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Orlando Scandrick did not shy away from criticizing the team who cut him this week.
Just when you think all of the Philadelphia Eagles behind-the-scenes problems are going to blow over, more issues arise. Last week, there was an anonymous source texting NFL insider Josina Anderson, airing out some of the team’s dirty laundry.
Then, Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson mentioned that the team is dealing with some accountability issues since players have been coming to practice and meetings late on occasion. Now, we got former Eagles cornerback, Orlando Scandrick airing out some of the team’s dirty laundry on FS1’s Skip and Shannon: Undisputed.
To sum it all up, we’ve learned that Howie Roseman cannot be trusted in the eyes of Scandrick. Lane Johnson needs to look in the mirror when talking about accountability, and Malcolm Jenkins may be a ‘selfish’ player and captain on the defense.
Obviously, Scandrick went on for about 11 minutes, going into more descriptive details, but that what we are here to talk about. A few players/coaches could learn a lesson from Scandrick’s takeaways during his time in Philly — but the one who learns the biggest lesson here is none other than the Eagles’ general manager, Howie Roseman.
What’s the lesson Roseman learned?
Orlando Scandrick should be the final straw for Howie Roseman. Perhaps, the Eagles should steer way clear of signing former NFC East players — especially ones who come from Dallas. Scandrick is not the first former Cowboys player to cause issues for Philly, and he likely won’t be the last if Roseman doesn’t learn from his previous mistakes here.
Remember DeMarco Murray? Fun times (not really). Murray joined the Eagles through free agency after leading the league in rushing with Dallas. While Murray seemed like a good signing at the time — he caused nothing but issues throughout the season. The following year, the Eagles ended up getting rid of Murray anyway.
Then we’ve got Zach Brown, Miles Austin, and Steve Smith, to name a few more. Those guys might not have trashed the Eagles on the level that Scandrick recently has, but they absolutely did not pan out with the team. At this point, it has become obvious — guys who have played in the NFC East for a while do not belong on the Eagles. It hardly ever works out. So let this be a lesson to the one they call the “wizard,” Howie Roseman — no more rivals seeking for revenge.
