3. A three-game homestand could result in a three-game losing streak.

A three-game road trip for the Eagles didn’t quite go as the team planned, but they did end the stretch on a high note. They got a convincing victory over the Buffalo Bills in Week 8. That evens their mark at 4-4, and they return to the friendly confines of Lincoln Financial Field for three home games. That’s good news.

The bad news is this. They face the Chicago Bears, the New England Patriots, and the Seattle Seahawks in consecutive weeks over that stretch. It’s possible that they’ll be the underdogs in each of those three games, and no one should throw out the idea that they can lose all three games as well.

If they endure, two games versus the New York Giants, and games versus the Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins remain. Philly will also need to end the Cowboys winning streak three days before Christmas as that game takes on huge significance. You could argue that, if the Eagles get hot, they’re very capable of winning five straight to end the season, but if they stink it up in November’s first three games, it may not matter. That leads us all to one possible scenario, the scariest of them all.
