Philadelphia Eagles wideout DeSean Jackson might return soon, but his injury won’t be going away anytime soon.

Throughout the offseason, it was surreal to think the Philadelphia Eagles had wide receiver DeSean Jackson back in midnight green. After going away for roughly six years, Jackson made his way back to Philly through a trade. Jackson built up a strong relationship with the quarterback, Carson Wentz, and we all couldn’t wait to see it come to life.

Week one was glorious. Although the Eagles got off to a slow start, DeSean Jackson’s homecoming was nothing short of spectacular. He caught eight of his ten targets, totaling for 154 yards and two touchdowns. Both scores happened to be 50-plus yard bombs, as well.

At that point, the Eagles realized they had the deep threat they were missing for the longest back in action. It felt like nothing could stop the offense moving forward — but something did. Out of nowhere, Jackson was forced to watch the second game from the sidelines. Due to groin/abdomen pain, the veteran wideout missed the remainder of the game.

Come to find out, Jackson was dealing with an abdominal tear. While Jackson was suggested sports hernia surgery, he elected to do rehab instead. Doug Pederson made it known that Jackson is close to returning after Week 8, but the reports coming out of the Nova Care Complex still aren’t all that inspiring moving forward.

What’s the latest on Jackson’s injury?

NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Derrick Gunn has been conversing with some inside sources regarding Jackson’s injury. Apparently, the Eagles wideout will return at some point, but his apparent injury will not be going away. This fits on par with Pederson’s comments last week.

The Eagles’ head coach made it clear that when Jackson does get back to the field, he more than likely won’t be one-hundred percent. And it sounds like he never will be until he gets the required surgery during the offseason, or gets a full rehab in.

Next. A nice trade idea and one that’s horrendous. dark

With the latest reports on Jackson, that could factor into whether the Eagles trade for a wideout or not by the deadline on Tuesday. Don’t be surprised to see Howie Roseman acquire some help. After all, the Eagles need it considering their lack of production from their wideouts as of late.
