Jordan Howard faces his old team on Sunday, but the Chicago Bears will be bringing two talented running backs of their own.

On Sunday, in Week 9 of the NFL‘s regular season, Philadelphia Eagles running back Jordan Howard faces his old team. He’ll be looking to prove the Chicago Bears made a mistake by trading him to Philly back on March 28th of 2019. It’s probably a safe assumption that he’ll also serve as Philly’s sixth captain on that day.

Though the cliche thing for Howard to do will probably be to dismiss every question leading up to that one by saying things like ‘it’s just another game, and ‘I won’t be on the field at the same time the Bears running backs are’, but you know that human nature makes him want to prove to his old team that they made a mistake.

Chicago got a sixth-round selection in 2020’s NFL Draft after dealing the man who racked up 3,370 rushing yards, 24 touchdowns on the ground, 568 receiving yards, and another touchdown in the air while wearing a Bears jersey. Chicago’s backfield now consists of David Montgomery, who the Eagles scouted through the most recent draft process, and one of the NFL’s best at the running back position, Tarik Cohen.

Cohen was a First-team All-Pro in 2018 who was also given a Pro Bowl nod at the end of that season. Montgomery was a First-team Pro Football Focus All-American and a First-team All-Big 12 selection in 2017 as well as a Second-team All-Big 12 selection in 2018.

This season they’ve combined for 122 carries, 422 rushing yards, 47 receptions, 281 receiving yards, and four total touchdowns. On Philly’s side, Howard has shown he can produce in both the running and passing game, and he can be a workhorse back if need be. He’s had some good games already, but expect Howard’s best effort of the season to come in Week 9. Things seem to go well when he’s a focal point in Philly’s offense.
