Philadelphia Eagles’ Dallas Goedert loses bet to Carson Wentz
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert recently lost a bet to his quarterback, Carson Wentz.
Another week called for another locker room bet amongst Philadelphia Eagles players. This isn’t a particularly new trend within NFL locker rooms — especially in Philly’s. As we know, cornerback Avonte Maddox had to wear a Penn State shirt, courtesy of Pittsburgh losing to Miles Sanders and Shareef Miller’s alma mater last month.
This month, the locker room bet happened to be between Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert, and quarterback, Carson Wentz. Over this past weekend, Goedert’s former team, South Dakota State met with Wentz’s North Dakota State for yet, another matchup.
Therefore, Goedert and Wentz decided to make a little wager on the game that goes well-beyond trash talking and bragging rights. The 8-0 Bison went ahead and defeated the South Dakota State Jackrabbits 23-16 this past weekend, making Carson Wentz the winner of the bet. Typically, Goedert would have to wear some sort of NDSU attire — but Wentz had something bigger in mind.
Goedert’s Price to Pay
When the Eagles returned to the Nova Care Complex on Wednesday, Wentz found his winnings hanging by his locker upon his arrival. As you can see, Goedert was ordered to write a generous check for $1,000 as a donation towards the North Dakota State football program.
So far, Goedert hasn’t really spoken about his loss as he’s most likely trying to avoid talking about it. Typically, when NFL players see their former team lose on Saturday’s they feel exactly like how the fans do. Upset and embarrassed — especially if a bet is involved. In this case, Goedert’s bank account is feeling the loss as well. Probably not by much, but a loss is a loss at the end of the day.
