According to Eagles head coach Doug Pederson, fans shouldn’t spend a ton of time worrying about DeSean Jackson’s availability.

It’s almost become one of the more common narratives if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan. It almost seems like it wouldn’t be a normal game if someone wouldn’t limp off of the field and Doug Pederson didn’t have to piece a shattered roster back together. For everyone that was hoping for a win by an Eagles team that donned their all-black jerseys for Week 9, the joy of seeing Timmy Jernigan, and Avonte Maddox, and DeSean Jackson back on the field turned to a tad bit of worry when ‘D-Jax’ played the first offensive series but left the game and never returned.

Immediately, we all allowed a slew of thoughts and fears to creep in. Is he hurt again? Did he come back to early? If you were totally in a state of panic, you probably asked yourself ‘will we ever see him in an Eagles jersey again’?

Postgame celebrations consisted of perusing the postgame tweets, the postgame shows, and the postgame podcasts. That calmed everyone slightly because we began to hear things like Eagles Insider Dave Spadaro saying ‘there were no major injuries’ in this one. That was followed by Coach Pederson’s presser, where he stated Jackson’s absence was ‘more of a precaution’, but he did say that there would be further testing on Monday as well.

Though it’s doubtful that any of that testing occurred before his usual call-in to 94 WIP-FM’s Angelo Cataldi and the Morning Team, Coach Pederson seemed equally as confident about the health of his star receiver and his status for Week 11.

Here’s some of what he had to say on the subject.

"Leading up to the game, he had been in his rehab, running, and felt really good. He had a great week of practice and preparation and we had looked at the Bears game as a possible date for him to return and play. He felt good. It was something we had a lot of collaboration on, not only with our doctors, but with DeSean to play in this football game. He was going to be limited, we knew that going in. He wasn’t going to play the full game. Everybody was comfortable with that decision."

On the decision to take him out after the first offensive series, Pederson said this.

"He gets into the football game… He had a moment there where he said something felt something, and so we took him in for really precautionary reasons. And everything, what I heard after the game, checked out good. We’ll check him out again this morning. I’ll get an update here in a little while. But I fully expect him to be good in a couple of weeks."

We’ll all see if any of that has changed at all when he speaks to the media later. Thankfully, at this point, there doesn’t seem to be anything to worry about though.
