3 Former Philadelphia Eagles received good news this week
A few former Philadelphia Eagles have benefitted from good news early on this week.
As of late, the Philadelphia Eagles haven’t been making too many moves. At the trade deadline, they came up with a single deal, which slightly upgraded their pass-rushing situation by acquiring Genard Avery from the Cleveland Browns.
Although the team needs some help in a few other areas, the Eagles have yet to make any further moves in terms of signing anybody. In other words, the news wire is quiet for the Eagles at the moment. However, a few of their former players have received some big news this week.
As we know, Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman lost his right-hand man Joe Douglas this past offseason. As the New York Jets were in search of a new General Manager, Douglas became their number one option. To no surprise, New York landed him.
Former Eagles call New York their home
When Douglas was hired, we realized the New York Jets could be the land of opportunity for some players who weren’t going to make the cut in Philly. It started with former Eagles running back, Josh Adams. After a decent rookie season with the Eagles, Adams landed on the Jets practice squad, since Philly made some moves to upgrade the position during the offseason.
Well, Adams is no longer on the practice squad as of Tuesday morning. As another team around the league had an interest in poaching Adams, the Jets decided to promote the second-year back. This marks the second year where Adams benefits from a practice squad promotion.
Adams isn’t the only former Eagles player to join the Jets this week, though. Former Eagles’ linebacker Paul Worrilow is actually coming out of his very short retirement to play for Douglas and the Jets as well. We’re not exactly sure what persuaded Worrilow to come out of retirement for the Jets — but good for him and his attempted comeback.
Last but surely not least…
The Eagles’ former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles had a rough start to his new opportunity down in Jacksonville. After tossing his first touchdown pass as the Jaguars newest franchise quarterback, Foles ended up leaving the game with a broken clavicle.
Since Week 1, Foles hasn’t seen the field. Ironically enough, Foles’ backup Garnder Minshew ended up doing a solid job with the Jags and became a hot commodity within the NFL.

For quite some time, the Jaguars were unsure of whether they were going to stick with Minshew or go back to Foles. Well, they made their minds up on Tuesday, and the Foles is still their guy. For a moment, it felt like Foles’ luck might’ve run out — but the MVP will get another shot to prove the doubters wrong.
