The Philadelphia Eagles have inked Brandon Brooks to a four-year extension. As expected, his teammates are thrilled.

The 2019 NFL season has been somewhat of a roller coaster ride for the Philadelphia Eagles. Due to unexpected injuries and underperforming players, the team has yet to find its true identity. In other words, there’s not too much to be thrilled about at this moment when it comes to the overall play of the team. However, that can’t be said for everybody, though.

Some players have had a rough start to the season. Others have outperformed expectations. One player, in particular, has suddenly looked like the best player at their position in the entire league. And for that, they have been rewarded by the Eagles.

On Monday, the Eagles decided to offer veteran right guard Brandon Brooks a four-year extension, keeping him in midnight green through 2024. According to The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane, the deal is worth $54.2 million, with 30 of it being guaranteed. All well-deserved.

The Eagles announce the news

Brooks joined the Eagles through free agency back in 2016. Although he had a shaky first season in Philly for non-football related reasons, Brooks has been a model player for the Birds ever since his arrival. And at this point, the Eagles had no choice but to lock in the veteran guard with a generous offer after everything he’s been through this season.

After suffering a torn Achilles in last year’s playoff matchup against the Saints, it was unclear when Brooks would be able to return to the field for the 2019 season. Many thought there was no way he would get back until halfway through the year, but Brooks ended up making to Week 1.

Not only did Brooks make it back quick enough to avoid missing time, but he ended up performing like one of the best offensive linemen in football through the first half of the season. Now that he’s locked into a long-term deal with the Eagles, the organization couldn’t be happier.
