The Philadelphia Eagles do right by Brandon Brooks in offering him an extension through 2024.

There are certain people in every walk of life that excel above and beyond what is expected of them. Brandon Brooks is one of those special people, and the Philadelphia Eagles‘ management seems to agree. Philly announced on Monday, November 11th that they were formally extending All-Pro guard Brandon Brooks through the 2024 NFL season.

The extension could not have been given to a more deserving member of the roster. Brooks’ well-documented return from Achilles surgery this season has served as the backbone for a Comeback Player of the Year campaign that’s rapidly gaining support across the league. The big man is exactly the kind of player Eagles fans and faculty hope to have on their side, and the team showed their appreciation with this extension.

Brooks’ superhuman recovery from Achilles surgery is just the tip of the iceberg for how impressive he’s been since joining the team in 2016. The former Houston Texan left a spot where he was viewed as a borderline practice squad talent and became a two-time All-Pro in the ‘City of Brotherly Love’. His presence beside fellow All-Pro Lane Johnson has made the right side of the Eagles offensive line one of the more daunting challenges for opposing defenses to solve.

Brooks was all smiles in at his official contract signing earlier today per the official Eagles twitter account:

He has every reason to be smiling from ear to ear. The contract extension (four years/$54.2 million with $30 million guaranteed) officially makes him the highest-paid guard in the league. This is a textbook case of a team knowing when they have something special and ensuring that they keep that talent in house. On the year, Brooks ranks as Pro Football Focus’ third highest-rated offensive lineman and was instrumental in Philly’s Week 9 victory over the Chicago Bears.

Zack Rosenblatt of NJ.com praised the extension and gave further context to just how good Brooks and Johnson have been as a tandem:

Players like Brandon Brooks don’t come along very often, and when they do you need to make sure that they’re rewarded for their services. The Eagles struck gold when they signed him during 2016’s free agency period, and three years later, they’ve rewarded him with the richest guard contract in the league for his hard work. In a league where even solid offensive line play is rare, an exceptional talent like Brooks deserves every penny he gets.
