Tom Brady is still out for revenge against the Philadelphia Eagles
Don’t think for a second that Tom Brady is over the 2017 Super Bowl loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.
It’s been a little while, but the Philadelphia Eagles are finally coming back. After getting the tenth week of the season off for a bye, the Eagles will soon be back in action at the Nova Care Complex to prepare for their Week 11 opponent.
Fortunately, the underperforming Eagles are on a two-game win streak with a record of 5-4. Unfortunately, their two toughest opponents this season happen to be on schedule for the next two weeks as they take on the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.
First, the Patriots will come to town. The last time the Birds and the Pats met in a meaningful game, it was for all of the glory. After winning their respective conference championships in 2017, New England and Philadelphia battled in Minnesota for Super Bowl LII.
At this point, we all know the story. The Eagles managed to take down the defending champions with a backup quarterback as the MVP, notching the first Super Bowl win in franchise history.
While Tom Brady has his fair share of rings — the veteran quarterback is still admittedly not over that loss. After throwing for over 500 yards and multiple scores, Brady’s most significant mistake is what took away the Patriots chance to repeat that year. And that moment is all Brady’s been thinking about as this week approaches.
What’s Tom Brady thinking?
According to Around the NFL writer Kevin Patra, Brady is seeking revenge this weekend in Philadelphia.
"“You assume I’m over it? Come on now,” Brady said. “That’s a lot of mental scar tissue from that year. That was a tough game. In a lot of ways, we learned from that year and we came back stronger the next year”"
Following that game two years ago, Brady seemingly snubbed Eagles’ quarterback Nick Foles and didn’t shake his hand after the game. That sent everybody into a frenzy as it made Brady out to look like a poor sport because he lost.
Two years later, though, Brady does credit the Eagles for their victory. “They deserved it that year,” Brady said. “And now a couple of years later we get a chance to play the organization again.” The circumstances are different on both sides, but since Brady directly felt the pain of that 2017 loss, he’s got nothing but revenge on his mind.
