The Philadelphia Eagles have Alshon Jeffery placed on the injury report this week as the prepare for the New England Patriots.

Over the duration of the bye week, the Philadelphia Eagles were expected to get healthier. While they know individual players likely won’t return soon, there was still a small chunk of players who were injured and expected to potentially get back to the field for the first time in a while.

It’s not all that easy in Philly, though. As we know, the Eagles tend to be one of the more injury-riddled teams in the NFL year after year. Unfortunately, the 2019 season is no different. And as the Eagles prepare to return from their bye week, they have a new name on the injury report.

Eagles’ No. 1 wideout, Alshon Jeffery is one of the newest additions to the report this week. As the wide receiver suffered an ankle injury late in the game two weeks ago against the Bears, Jeffery is now considered to be ‘day-to-day’ this week, according to NJ.com’ Mike Kaye.

While meeting with the media on Wednesday morning, Eagles’ head coach Doug Pederson discussed the severity of Jeffery’s injury. From the sounds of it, Jeffery isn’t dealing with anything that’s too significant right now. Pederson described the veteran wideout as “sore.”

Although it’s too early to tell, it seems like Jeffery is going to be okay and cleared to play against the New England Patriots this weekend. Jeffery’s presence on the field isn’t what it used to be — but the Eagles are much better off with him than without him — despite his recent struggles.

At this point, we know the Eagles aren’t getting the very best of Alshon Jeffery, as a calf injury has slowed him down this season. Mixing in an ankle injury now will surely affect the veteran’s play moving forward.

However, the Eagles do not have the luxury of sitting out a less than one-hundred percent Alshon Jeffery. If No. 17 is cleared to push through the pain, then we should expect to see him go against the Patriots on Sunday afternoon. Seeing as though the next stretch of games is critical for the Birds, they need all available hands on deck.
