Colin Kaepernick is set to work out in front of an NFL audience on Saturday. Might the Philadelphia Eagles brass make the trip to get a look?
Ladies and gentlemen, we may be at the end of one of the longest-running and most-debated sagas in the history of the NFL. Regardless of what side you sit on, the mention of Colin Kaepernick’s name creates conversation, debate, and, sometimes angst. The topics have ranged from patriotism to free speech to social issues. Some have even said ‘Kap’ was blackballed, but news broke on Wednesday, shortly after breakfast on the East Coast, that the league will host a workout for him. That’s one day before the Philadelphia Eagles meet the New England Patriots in yet another important game.
An invitation was sent to all 32 teams, and the story was confirmed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter who stated a memo was obtained by league offices.
Kapernick’s workout is set for Saturday at 3 p.m. EST at the Atlanta Falcons facility. Might the ‘Birds’ send some of the brass or a few scouts to take a peek. Come on guys and gals. Aren’t you at least a tad interested? Here are a few more details courtesy if Ian Rapoport.

Mr. Kaepernick appears to be ready.
I’m just getting word from my representatives that the NFL league office reached out to them about a workout in Atlanta on Saturday. I’ve been in shape and ready for this for 3 years, can’t wait to see the head coaches and GMs on Saturday.

Here’s something else of note. Over the past couple of years, all 32 teams have had the opportunity to invite ‘Kap’ to work out. No one did so. This workout is hosted by the NFL. Eagles head coach Doug Pederson was once quoted as saying ‘we consider everybody’ when he was asked about the much-discussed signal-caller who once led the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl. He hasn’t appeared in a game since 2016, but love him or hate him, we should all be able to agree on something.
If Josh McCown, Paxton Lynch, and Blake Bortles are still in the league, Kaepernick, at least, deserves the right to prove he deserves a job somewhere. There’s no way anyone can argue that he isn’t at least just as good if not better than those guys, even with the long layoff. There’s no reason to believe that Philly and their vice president and general manager Howie Roseman won’t do their due diligence. Expect their presence on Saturday.
