1. Monday, September 15th, 2014: Monday Night Football versus the Colts

After Sproles was acquired by Philly, future Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee and former teammate Drew Brees was quoted as saying “You only see a Darren Sproles type of player come around once in your career”. Philly learned that early.

In Week 2 of that season, versus the Indianapolis Colts, he ran for 26 yards and a touchdown on four carries, and he added another 152 yards on seven receptions. Two of those receptions were over 50 yards. Whenever you have a game like that, it’s special. When you have a game like that on Monday Night Football, it’s elevated to another stratosphere.

If you don’t believe that, just find Randall Cunningham and ask him.

Philly would win by a score of 27-24. That game earned Sproles an offensive player of the week nod. In 15 regular-season games during the 2014 season, Sproles ran for 329 yards and six touchdowns on 57 carries. He also hauled in another 40 catches for 387 yards and added 39 punt returns for 506 yards and two touchdowns. For his efforts, he was elected to his first career Pro Bowl.
