2. September 27th, 2015: Week 3 versus the New York Jets

It seems like it’s been forever since it happened, but once upon a time Chip Kelly had a bright idea, and that idea was this. “Hey, why not trade LeSean McCoy (who was still in his prime) for Kiko Alonso?”

That led to a subsequent move where Kelly added DeMarco Murray, who was never a fit for his system. Oh, and by the way, that was also the year that Kelly traded Nick Foles for Sam Bradford. In looking back on things now, we can all state definitively that Kelly was a spy sent by division rivals to ruin Philly from the inside.

2019 began with two losses. Week 3 brought a date with the New York Jets, and in that one, we were treated to a few moments that would stand out in what would wind up being a forgettable season.

Sproles and Ryan Mathews filled in for an injured DeMarco Murray. Following his 89-yard punt return for a touchdown and his 17 additional rushing yards and rushing touchdown, Sproles would be named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week, but that isn’t the game in 2015 that he’s remembered for.
