The Philadelphia Eagles have begun discussing contract extensions for multiple players this week, according to a report from CBS Sports.

Philadelphia Eagles’ front office captain Howie Roseman hasn’t had his best season running the ship in 2019. As a handful of his offseason moves have backfired, a lot of fans within the Philly base began to turn on the man they once called a wizard.

Although Roseman hasn’t done a great job of acquiring new talent in 2019, it’s still necessary to point out that Howie is a numbers guy. Offering and re-structuring contracts are his thing and where he thrives when it comes to being the man in charge of the front office moves.

Earlier this week, Roseman made the right call and inked the overachieving right guard, Brandon Brooks, to a brand new four-year extension. Now, Roseman is looking to enter negotiations with the representation of a few other veteran players on the squad as well.

Who is potentially getting a new deal?

According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, the Eagles prefer to have a handful of guys signed extended before the 2019 NFL season concludes.

The Eagles did the right thing by locking in Brooks far before he hits the free agency market. Now, they want to do the same with a couple of other guys.

Eagles tight end Zach Ertz is one of the three reported players who are on Roseman’s radar. Although the 29-year-old Pro Bowl tight end is signed through 2021, the Eagles could look to extend him even further, keeping the band of Ertz and Dallas Goedert together for a while.

Along with Ertz, it sounds like right tackle Lane Johnson is being considered as well. The Pro Bowl right tackle is in the same situation as Ertz. At 29-years-old, Johnson is signed on through the 2021 season, but it’s far from shocking to know the Eagles want to keep him around beyond that considering the right side of the offensive line has been thriving with the Johnson-Brooks combination for the last few years now.

Last but not least, La Canfora reports that the Eagles are still keeping safety, Malcolm Jenkins in mind as well. Over the offseason, Jenkins was looking for an early extension, but the talks seemingly went away. While Jenkins has allowed the Eagles to put the negotiations on hold, he surely won’t be forgetting that he wants a new deal when the 2019 season concludes.
