After another horrible effort by Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Carson Wentz, the question needs to be asked. Should Carson Wentz be benched?

Sunday afternoon was just another display of the struggles that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has shown throughout much of this season. The blame for a Week 12 loss can’t be placed on the wide receivers dropping passes or the defense’s performance.

This loss falls almost completely in the lap of Carson Wentz and the coaching staff. Should the franchise consider sitting him and letting him regroup?

This past Sunday afternoon the grades on the defense were mostly positive. The negatives came from the other side of the ball, specifically the six-foot-five Carson Wentz. Against a Seattle Seahawks defense that came into Sunday afternoon’s contest ranked in the bottom third of the league in defensive rankings, Wentz made them look like the ‘Legion of Boom’.

Now, Wentz didn’t have his starting receivers or Lane Johnson, and he lost Brandon Brooks midway through the first quarter. That doesn’t excuse the fumbles, missing wide-open receivers, and the interceptions. He didn’t look comfortable at any point in the game. The excuses can be thrown out at this point. Carson Wentz is just bad right now.

The question is what does replacing him with a 40-year-old journeyman quarterback in Josh McCown or an unproven backup in Nate Sudfeld when he’s healthy? Next on the schedule is Miami Dolphins. Hopefully, Wentz can regain some confidence in that one.

Next. Carson Wentz has no excuses. dark

That idea is still up in the air. Should he go to Miami and resemble the Carson Wentz we’ve seen struggle this season, he needs to sit early. If he gets some of his weapons and resembles the Wentz of old, Philly needs to ride the wave. Either way, this game against the Dolphins will determine the course for the rest of the season.
