On the eve of another Thanksgiving, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz spoke with the Philly media about teammate Brandon Brooks, getting booed, and a few other things.

2019 was supposed to be one of the crowning jewels of Carson Wentz‘s young career as QB1 of the Philadelphia Eagles. Instead, it’s been one of his worst seasons. For ‘Birds’ fans, it wasn’t supposed to be this way. Everyone was supposed to see Doug Pederson‘s best roster (on paper) contend for another Super Bowl. Now, everyone’s just curious about whether or not this team can make the postseason.

The bottom all but fell out in Week 12 as Carson Wentz turned in the worst performance of his NFL career. He missed throws. He missed wide-open receivers. He threw two interceptions and also fumbled twice.

Eagles fans in attendance had, seemingly, seen enough, and QB1 heard something he hadn’t heard since arriving in the ‘City of Brotherly Love’, boo-birds.

On the day before Thanksgiving, he spoke to that.

"(The fans) have a right to be frustrated. They pay money to sit in those seats. They pay money to cheer us on, and they’re so passionate about it. I’m the same way, so when they’re frustrated, I’m frustrated too… They have a right to be frustrated when we’re slumping the way we’re slumping.. At the same time, I’m excited to go forward, and hopefully, they’re excited to see us turn this thing around."

Wentz also took some time to congratulate Brandon Brooks for his courage and encourage him as he continues to walk through some difficult circumstances.

"I know Brandon really well. As a player, obviously, he’s exceptional. As a person, he’s just an awesome guy (and) an awesome teammate… He’s battled with those things for a long time, and for me, I’m so proud of him, to be able to come out and say ‘Hey. This is what I deal with’. That could change so many young people’s lives around the world, knowing here’s this NFL all-star player, (a) Pro-Bowl player, arguably tthe best at his position, and he goes through it. He’s not ashamed. He’s not embarrassed. He can talk about it. It’s frustrating. It’s tough when he’s not able to play and know that he’s going through that, (but it’s nice) seeing the guys and myself support him and be there to support him and pray for him. Like I said. I’m just proud that he’s open and honest about that, and I’m confident that he’ll be out there this week."

Well said, Mr. Wentz. Well said. We’ll see how ‘The Birds do on Sunday afternoon. Hopefully, things start to turn around for these guys, both on the field and off.
