2 More Philadelphia Eagles added to NFL 100 All-time team
An amazing week continues for Philadelphia Eagles fans as two more former ‘Birds’ are added to the NFL 100 All-Time Team.
It’s been a great week if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Well, let’s all call it a great week minus whatever that was versus the Seattle Seahawks. Other than that, things have been pretty kosher.
The Dallas Cowboys lost twice in the span of about five days. We all enjoyed some Thanksgiving cheer, and two more former Eagles made the NFL 100 All-Time Team. As November wound down, Chuck Bednarik and Reggie White both made the roster as the NFL Network announced the front seven on Friday.
Here’s some of what Bill Belichick had to say about ‘The Minister of Defense’.
"Reggie’s in a class by himself. We recruited him at Cleveland in free agency. (We) didn’t have much of a chance but he was a special guy. He really was."
Here’s some of what Cris Collinsworth had to say as he expressed his admiration.
"When free agency came around, everybody said that the free agents would only go to L.A. or New York or Miami and he was one of the first ones ever to sign and when he went to Green Bay, it shook up everything. It was stunning."
They join fellow NFL legends Doug Atkins, Bill Hewitt, Deacon Jones, Gino Marchetti, Lee Roy Selmon, Bruce Smith, Junious “Buck” Buchanan, “Mean” Joe Greene, Bob Lilly, Merlin Olsen, Alan Page, John Randle, Randy White, Bobby Bell, Derrick Brooks, Jack Ham, Lawrence Taylor, Ted Hendricks, Dick Butkus, Jack Lambert, Joe Schmidt, Willie Lanier, Junior Seau, Chuck Noll, and Ray Lewis.
Fellow Eagle, running back Steve Van Buren, made the roster last week along with nine other running backs. All that’s left to wrap up a great week is an Eagles win on Sunday in Week 13. They’re in Miami Gardens to take on the Dolphins. They’ll be looking to keep their postseason hopes alive.
They control their own destiny. Five straight wins will put them in the NFC Playoffs. They haven’t won more than two straight games all season, but four games against very familiar opponents in the NFC East will give them a strong chance to make a run.
