Activating Cre’Von LeBlanc from the IR to the active roster was a wise move.

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced Saturday that they have activated cornerback Cre’Von LeBlanc from injured reserve. As you know, he was granted a 21-day practice window to review the condition of his injury, one that he suffered in training camp.

Team doctors and coaches have determined that he’s good to go, and he’ll be available for Sunday’s game versus the Miami Dolphins. This is a wise move and could pay huge dividends.

Last season, LeBlanc, a former undrafted free agent that bounced around the league and got waived by three teams, faced the nearly insurmountable task trying to fit into a secondary that had helped Philly win the Super Bowl following 2017’s regular season. After a plethora of injuries occurred in Philly’s secondary, he not only filled in. He excelled in his role with great aplomb and became one of the stars of the season.

LeBlanc was a breath of fresh air in the slot. He contributed in the NFC Playoffs with a touchdown-saving play in Wildcard Round versus the Chicago Bears. That went a long way in deciding both the game. He followed that performance by picking off Drew Brees the next week in a divisional-round game versus the New Orleans Saints.

He has yet to play a snap this season but was signed to an extension through 2020 before being placed on injured reserve prior to the regular season. The Eagles giving LeBlanc and extension knowing his injury shows just how high they are on the young cornerback.

LeBlanc excels in coverage, particularly in the slot, thanks to his closing speed and tackling. Both set him apart from other corners and gives him such a high ceiling as a young player, but it’s his ability to excel in big games that make him invaluable.

All of a sudden, the Eagles find themselves with Super Bowl starters Ronald Darby and Jalen Mills starting at cornerback and second-year man Avonte Maddox also seeing a lot of playing time in the slot. Now, with the addition of LeBlanc, suddenly, the Eagles have four solid cornerbacks to plug and play. Oh, and by the way, Rasul Douglas and Sidney Jones are both talented and in the fold as well.
