Recently, one of the Philadelphia Eagles’ favorite sons blasted head coach Doug Pederson.

Sometimes, things just don’t last long enough. Such is the case for Philadelphia Eagles legend and former running back Brian Westbrook. During his eight-year run in Philly, ’36’ racked up 5,995 rushing yards, 3,790 receiving yards, 985 return yards on 62 total returns, and 68 total touchdowns, and that was just in the regular season. In the playoffs, he added another 591 rushing yards and 334 receiving yards on 162 total touches. If ’36’ talks, fans will listen, especially on hot topics like Doug Pederson‘s performance.

Recently, on an episode of Bleacher Report’s The Lefkoe Show, Westbrook offered his opinion on the progress Philly’s head coach is making.

Buckle up. This is heavy but nothing that hasn’t already been said.

"I set this loss at the feet of Doug Pederson… It’s your job as a head coach to get your team to understand ‘Dallas just lost on Thursday. We have a chance at this point, despite all (of) the crazy stuff that’s gone on. Despite the injuries, despite Carson Wentz not playing up to his level. Despite all of the things that have happened on the defensive line and (in) the secondary (and) all of the things that have surrounded your team, people calling out your quarterback (and) the locker room snitches, we still have a chance to control our own destiny and make it into the playoffs. It all comes down to the next five weeks of football, so all I need (for) you guys to is dedicate yourself for five weeks. That is going to help us, make us force our way into the playoffs, and when we get into the playoffs, it’s anybody’s game’. That’s the conversation I wanted Doug Pederson to have."

You kind of see where this is headed right? It gets better. Westbrook continued on his rant stating this football team looked unprepared, and unlike Bill Belichick who makes halftime and in-game adjustments, there wasn’t a single time that he saw that from Coach Pederson.

Westbrook even took the time to suggest that Philly should have used a timeout to better prepare for a Miami Dolphins trick play that helped to turn the tide in a game that seemed to be getting away from his team.

Here’s a reaction to all of this.

Whether you agree or disagree, Westbrook’s sentiment is one that’s shared by countless Eagles fans. Pederson, right now, isn’t getting the job done. Pederson doesn’t seem to have a plan.

You hate to have to kick the guy when he’s down, but when you make statements as he did in his Monday presser that followed the loss in Miami Gardens, ‘I’m going to keep putting one foot in front of the other’, it’s hard not to blame anyone for being upset or angry.

Putting one foot in front of the other sounds like he means that he’s going to keep doing what he’s doing, and that can’t happen. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen that work. It’s time to do something different Coach! The question is does he know how? The New York Giants come to town on Sunday.
