Philadelphia Eagles debate table: Could Ron Rivera land with an NFC East rival?

Of the four most-likely landing spots for Ron Rivera, three are the Philadelphia Eagles’ rivals in the NFC East.

Here are the facts. Brace yourself. As much as many Philadelphia Eagles fans would love to see this team move on from their defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and replace him with Ron Rivera, that probably isn’t going to happen. It isn’t because fans or players wouldn’t welcome him. It isn’t because he wouldn’t work there. It’s because he’s proven he’s earned the chance to coach somewhere.

Several teams will be in the market for Rivera’s services at the 2019 season’s end. The top four are obvious, but here’s a twist if you haven’t already figured it out. Three of those four teams are in the Eagles division, a downtrodden NFC East.

Those may also be his best options if he, indeed, wants another job as ‘the guy’.

Rivera was with Philly from 1999-2003. Might the Eagles former linebackers coach return to the division that helped him make a nice name for himself? It’s a very real possibility. Let’s weigh the options. Here are the four teams who will probably be the biggest competitors for Rivera’s services.
