The Philadelphia Eagles will see a familiar face in Eli Manning on Monday night when taking on the New York Giants.

To conclude Week 14, the Philadelphia Eagles will host the New York Giants on Monday night, and while there was previous excitement over the chance to face a rookie quarterback in Daniel Jones, it looks like the team will see a familiar face in Eli Manning instead.

Due to the Duke product dealing with an ankle injury, the Giants will be making the switch back to Manning for the first time since September after the two-time Super Bowl MVP was benched in favor of Jones entering Week 3.

At the time, Pat Shurmur was looking for some sort of spark to the offense after New York lost their first two games of 2019, and it was amazing to watch Jones start his NFL career off on a hot note by winning each of his first two games.

With that being said, the hot start by Jones would eventually begin to cool down, as the Giants enter Week 14 as losers of eight games in a row, and could very well see that streak increase to nine if the Eagles have their way on Monday.

From a realistic standpoint, there’s every reason to believe that Manning will look a little rusty against Philadelphia’s defense, and be in for a long evening, but also the Eagles need to take the factor of the quarterback’s future into consideration.

Since the Giants made it clear this season that Jones is the potential future quarterback of this franchise, if Manning continues to play beyond the 2019 season instead of calling it a career, chances are the veteran will be on a different team in 2020.

As much as Manning would prefer to be the starter in New York for the 2020 season, this year has made it clear that Jones is the go-to guy moving forward, and switching him to the backup will only delay his development into becoming the kind of quarterback the Giants need.

So while Manning was originally expected to finish the year out from the sidelines, the quarterback now finds himself in position to show off his set of skills to any potential teams interested in his services heading into next season.

Taking down what should be a fired up Eagles’ defense after last weekend’s embarrassing loss to the Miami Dolphins will be far from easy for Manning, but also this is a player with nothing to lose at this stage in his career.

All Manning needs to do Monday night is come out firing to potentially catch Philadelphia off guard on defense to show there’s still some gas left in the old tank.

And if this turns out to be the case, Manning may not only catch the attention of potential suitors for 2020, but also put additional pressure on the Eagles when it comes to making sure they avoid being on the wrong side of an upset for a second week in a row.
