Was Week 14’s win the most important win in Carson Wentz’s career? One NFL expert seems to think that’s exactly the case.

Heading into the Philadelphia Eagles Week 14 date with the New York Giants, Philly needed a win. A loss wasn’t going to end the chances at the NFL’s postseason, but it sure would have thrown a huge monkey wrench into this Eagles machine.

By the time the second half rolled around, one thing became painfully obvious. If the ‘Birds’ were going to wind up on top, it was going to take a Herculean effort on offense, and Carson Wentz was going to have to put the team on his back and carry them. He did, and with that Week 14 overtime win, the doubters were silenced, sort of.

At this point, you have to ask yourself if anything ’11 does is ever going to be good enough. Wentz still threw the ball too much, and he turned the ball over. Try 50 total passes and another lost fumble on for size (that’s six lost fumbles for the season), but this time, all of Wentz’s efforts led to a late-game rally. The Eagles got a much-needed win, but was this the most important win of Carson Wentz’s young career? ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky seems to think so.

Here’s an excerpt from Orlovsky’s take on a recent episode of ESPN’s GET UP!:

"That was the biggest win of Carson Wentz’s career. It was the most important win of Carson Wentz’s career, and it was the most needed win of Carson Wentz’s career because (of) the three-game losing streak, how that offense looked, all the decimation of injuries, and them, the money that’s been paid to him. It was almost like the performance wasn’t neccesarily going to matter. It was going to be about the pride, the professional pride and the questions of can you bring people along? Can you elevate people? He’s playing in a driving rainstorm with guys that no one’s ever heard of… It was the style of play that impressed me… This is a little different from the carson Wentz we’ve seen in the past where he tries to do everything himself…"

Reading the words doesn’t do this one enough justice. Check out the footage when you have a moment. Maybe you agree with Dan Orlovsky. Maybe you don’t. Maybe this was the biggest win in Wentz’s career. Maybe it wasn’t, but it was huge. Week’s 15, 16, and 17 will be huge too. This Eagles team still has a ton of work to do.
