You’re curious about Carson Wentz and Alshon Jeffery and what they think about each other huh? Why not ask the Eagles franchise QB, himself?

It’s been a long season. First, the narrative was ‘the Philadelphia Eagles should keep Nick Foles over Carson Wentz‘. Then, it was ‘Wentz can’t stay healthy’. Then, it was ‘Wentz can’t inspire his teammates’, ‘these guys hate Wentz’, and ‘Alshon Jeffery was the anonymous source’.

It’s been something all season, but now, Jeffery’s 2019 run with his team is over.

His character has been questioned. Then, it was his loyalty and whether or not he was trying hard enough to get onto the field and whether or not his relationship with his franchise signal-caller had strained.

Sure, they embraced following that touchdown pass in Miami, but they both looked uncomfortable.

It would be eleven days later, on the day Jeffery was placed on the Eagles’ injured reserve, that we’d finally get some answers. How does Wentz really feel about Jeffery? Did he really sit out of those games when he could have played? What kind of teammate was Jeffery?

The Philly media’s most recent conversation with QB1 brought all of that out. Here are three statements every Eagles fan needs to be made aware of.

Here are Wentz’s feelings on his friend and teammate’s setback.

Of course, everyone wants to know how ’11’ feels about ending 2019 without his top receiver.

"For Alshon, shoot, I love that guy, and his injury was… It’s unfortunate. It’s unfortunate (and) it’s part of the game. (And) it’s the part that we all hate, the injuries. It’s just so unfortunate."

Could Alshon have played those games, when we all wondered if he sat out unnecessarily? This was the first time that we heard the words ‘selfish’ and ‘stubborn’ attached to ’17’. He had played the entire 2017 season with a torn rotator cuff and never said a word.

In 2018, he missed the first three games of the season, and he played with broken ribs in the playoffs.

In 2019, he injured his calf in Week 2. He was called a ‘snitch’ by Howard Eskin. He injured his ankle in November, but this last time, one final injury shut him down for good.

As usual, Jeffery was silent. His quarterback was the opposite.

"He came in ready to work every day, and for me, I think, obviously, he had injuries here and there throughout the year. That definitely lingered and hampered him, but when he was out there, he was making plays. He was making plays, and he was helping us out in a big way. Obviously, that’s a tough loss for us, but we get the same mentality, next man up."

This final statement says everything that you need to know.

"I have a great relationship with Alshon. He’s been an awesome teammate ever since he got here… It’s been awesome getting to know him as a guy and as a teammate and seeing the plays he’s been able to make over the years, this year as well."

As usual, Wentz said all of the right things. Regardless of what side you sit on in the debate about his leadership, you have to admit, he’s learning how to be one. It’s beginning to look like he’ll figure it out.
