A new report claims that Alshon Jeffery’s Lisfranc foot injury will take the Philadelphia Eagles wideout around nine months to recover from.

Unfortunately, Philadelphia Eagles fans seemed to know right away that Alshon Jeffery‘s injury from Monday’s win over the New York Giants didn’t look good when it happened, which turned out to be exactly the case.

With Jeffery’s season officially over due to a Lisfranc foot injury, the next biggest concern surrounding the Eagles was exactly how much time would the wideout miss since the timetable to return varies, depending on the player’s situation.

Turns out, Jeffery and the Eagles have some sort of idea over a potential return, although nothing is guaranteed at the moment.

Sadly, as great as it may seem to hear that Jeffery could very well be ready to go right around the start of the 2020 season, plenty could change from now until the start of September from a recovery perspective.

Over the years, Jeffery has unfortunately been in this situation (after the Super Bowl for instance with his shoulder surgery) before where his status for the start of a new season has been in question.

And while every injury situation is different, the argument can be made this will be one of the most serious ones from the wideout’s career.

Even more concerning, when looking at Philadelphia’s situation at wide receiver as a result of all the injuries from 2019, this injury to Jeffery will easily have an impact on the team’s 2020 plans.

As bad as it sounds, there was already discussion prior to the injury over whether Jeffery’s time with the Eagles would be finished after the 2019 season if the team decided to move on in order to free up some salary cap space.

Now that Jeffery will be recovering from this Lisfranc foot injury, it’s obvious that any potential trade will be a lot more difficult to pull off, and releasing him would obviously be costly for the Eagles.

But since this stuff can be focused on more down the road, all Philadelphia needs to worry about at the moment is making sure Jeffery recovers as quickly as possible, and the next nine months go as smoothly as possible for the wideout.
