Philadelphia Eagles flashbacks: Philly’s 10 best victories over Washington
It took some doing. There were disagreements, but ITI is proud to offer the ten best victories of the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins rivalry.
It may not possess the same venom as the games that have been held between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants. ‘Birds’ fans may never hold the same contempt for Washington Redskins fans that they do for those of the Dallas Cowboys, but the Eagles and Redskins’ rivalry is just as venomous as anything you’d see between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers or the Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs.
At times, it’s been downright ugly.
These two proud franchises began exchanging pleasantries back in 1934 when that team from our great nation’s capital was still in Boston. Ask any fan of the ‘Skins, and they’ll tell you Washington is the owner of two NFL championships and three Super Bowl titles that they won during the Joe Gibbs era.
Their antagonists from our great nation’s first capital city have won three NFL championships and their first Super Bowl, one that they earned in a game no ‘Birds’ fan or any other NFL fan who saw it will ever forget. They’ve met twice a year since 1936. They meet again for the second time in 2019 during Week 15’s slate of games. The Eagles are trying to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. The Redskins are trying to spoil everything.
It’s been a long journey, one that’s been punctuated by some amazing confrontations. Here are ten, the Eagles’ ten best wins of this long duel.
