Philadelphia Eagles rival report: Cowboys expert reveals their weaknesses
Predictions
ITI: Who are the guys that could play a role in determining how this one plays out and what’s your prediction on the outcome?
Steven Mullenax:
Based on what we saw against the Rams, you have to believe a big day on the ground by running backs Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard is a key to victory for Dallas. Not only will running the ball effectively help the offense score points, but the advantage in time of possession allows the defense to rest.
Although quarterback Dak Prescott is more than capable of putting up massive yardage totals, it hasn’t always translated to wins, and quick three-and-outs on offense does nothing to help an underperforming Dallas defense.
Speaking of defense, I think seeing another big performance from linebacker Sean Lee could inspire the entire unit to play up to their potential. Lee sparked the defense against the Rams with a sack and an interception. If the 33-year old linebacker can post yet another stellar performance, I think it goes a long way in Dallas securing the win and NFC East crown.
Since 2012, the Cowboys have lost in Philly only once, and that single defeat was at the end of a 13-3 season in a meaningless Week 17 matchup. For some unknown reason, the Cowboys feel very comfortable playing the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. Based on the 37-10 outcome of their previous matchup this season and the Cowboys stellar performance against the Rams, I find it difficult not to choose Dallas as the favorites here.
