Philadelphia Eagles still can’t catch break after Kamu Grugier-Hill injury
By Dan Parzych
The Philadelphia Eagles placed linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill on IR Wednesday due to a back injury.
Unfortunately, the Philadelphia Eagles have been one of the biggest victims to the injury bug throughout the 2019 season, and there’s simply no way to sugarcoat it at this point, whether it happens to be Alshon Jeffery or DeSean Jackson.
On Wednesday, the Eagles confirmed the news fans were dreading to hear after it was announced that Kamu Grugier-Hill will be heading to IR as a result of a back injury, putting even more pressure on Philadelphia’s final stretch of the regular season.
With the Eagles basically needing to win each of their final two games against the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants, Doug Pederson‘s squad was already considered to be at a major disadvantage due to the current circumstances with all of the injuries.
Now that Grugier-Hill is out, Philadelphia will need someone to step up to help fill the void at linebacker to help keep the defense in better shape, which is always easier said than done.
Despite limited action over his first two NFL season from 2016-17, Grugier-Hill has made a name for himself over the last two years as a key defender flying under the radar on defense by appearing in 26 games, including 16 starts.
Even if there has been some controversy surrounding Grugier-Hill as of late over the way he handled a head injury that took place in Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins, this latest back injury is another crushing blow to the long list of injuries surrounding the Eagles in 2019.
As bad as it sounds, if Philadelphia does end up coming short of winning the NFC East, all the injuries the team has been forced to overcome will be used as a defense, and it’s not a bad one either since one can only imagine how different things could have been this season.
Talent wise, there’s every reason to believe the Eagles would have been in much better shape in the NFC East standings entering their Week 16 battle against the Cowboys, but unfortunately there isn’t anything they can do other than make the necessary adjustments.
Promoting Bruce Hector from the practice squad to the active roster is certainly exciting, but also it still doesn’t take away from the latest frustration surrounding the Grugier-Hill injury.
