The Philadelphia Eagles could use a strong performance by Boston Scott during Week 16 against the Dallas Cowboys with Jordan Howard missing another game.

With Jordan Howard missing his sixth game in a row due to a shoulder injury, the Philadelphia Eagles will be looking for extra help on offense in Week 16 to help take down the Dallas Cowboys, which is where Boston Scott could come into play.

While rookie Miles Sanders has done an incredible job stepping up the most at running back with Howard out over these last two months, Scott deserves plenty of credit as well for taking advantage of the surprise playing opportunity.

A few months ago, Scott was the last running back that anyone expected Philadelphia to be relying on during this final playoff stretch, but since Howard’s injury is clearly worse than originally expected, the Eagles really weren’t left with much of a choice.

But also, the increased role by Scott has worked out better than expected when looking at the impact made over the previous two games, and Philadelphia hopes to see the trend continue late Sunday afternoon when taking on Dallas.

One week after finishing with 128 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown to help the Eagles take down the New York Giants, Scott came up big once again last weekend in a win over the Washington Redskins by catching seven passes for 39 yards.

These numbers may not seem like that big of a deal, but with the lack of options Carson Wentz has been forced to work with, Scott’s presence has certainly helped in a big way.

Since the Eagles basically need to win out just to keep their playoff hopes alive, no one needs to explain the importance of handing the Cowboys a loss on Sunday, and Philadelphia will need all of the extra help they can get from players like Scott.

Based off the last two games, the Eagles should feel confident enough in Scott stepping up once again, and if the running back helps Philadelphia finish ahead of Dallas to win the NFC East, this could make a case for a guaranteed roster spot in 2020.

Scott obviously still has plenty to prove since it’s only been a few games, but since the Eagles will need to decide about Howard as well in the offseason, this could provide him an extra advantage as well when it comes to roster decisions.
