What if we told you that the Eagles lost two of their top receivers on the depth chart, Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor, and the team got better?

At this point, you have to ask if there’s any harm and doing what we said over here at ITI a while ago. It’s been just under four weeks since we stated that the Philadelphia Eagles should deactivate Nelson Agholor permanently. Ask yourself a question. After everything you’ve seen over the past few weeks do you actually want Agholor or Alshon Jeffery back on this team?

Let’s take a second and rewind a little.

It seems like it was a while ago, but if you remember, there was the thing where an anonymous source made some derogatory comments about Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz. Philadelphia mainstay Howard Eskin dimed Jeffery, claiming that he was the anonymous source. Jeffery denied it, but if you’ll remember, all of a sudden, the comments stopped.

Then, there was this thing with Agholor. He was taking a ton of heat on social media, so much that he terminated his own account. All of a sudden, Wentz is taking shots from an anonymous source on social media. Agholor is questioned about whether or not he was the man behind the burner account. As you’d imagine, he denied any wrongdoing, but just like we saw in Jeffery’s case, the anonymous posts from the burner account stopped.

Were Jeffery and Agholor the culprits? Well, truthfully, the only people who know the answer to that are Agholor, Jeffery, and the Good Lord in Heaven. The rest of us will never know the answer, but here’s what we can say.

These guys don’t have Wentz’s back. It’s obvious, and it affected this team. What makes matters worse is Wentz has always done everything he can to defend them publicly, even when Agholor has stunk up the joint.

Here’s something else that really can’t be proven and something we may never know the answer to. Injuries or none, these guys probably could have been back in the lineup and gutted things out if they really wanted to help this team win. Is it out of the question to believe they wanted to sit and prove that this team couldn’t win without them?

If that was the plan, it’s blown up in their faces. Not only have the Eagles carried on, but they also look better without ’17’ and ’13’ running around. The young guys like Greg Ward and Boston Scott have gotten the opportunity. They’ve made the most of it, and now people are beginning to ask a very serious question. Is it better to just eat the dead money and get these guys out of here? That’s if they can’t be traded of course. Here’s something you need to know Philly. You don’t need Agholor or Jeffery.

Then, there’s the other thing. If you’re any other team, do you want a headache on your roster? Sure, Jeffery’s tried to show his support, but is any of that even genuine? To be honest, it just looks like a guy trying to salvage a little of his reputation. As mentioned earlier, Agholor terminated his social media accounts. Is anyone else asking what these guys are thinking right now?
