Eagles possibly facing Marshawn Lynch in playoffs sounds insane
By Dan Parzych
Depending on how things play out in Week 17, there’s a chance the Philadelphia Eagles could see Marshawn Lynch during the playoffs if the running back re-joins the Seattle Seahawks.
Thanks to the Philadelphia Eagles hanging on to defeat the Dallas Cowboys 17-9 on Sunday, Doug Pederson and company now control their own playoff destiny with a full-game lead over their rivals for the NFC East title heading into Week 17.
After everything the Eagles have dealt with over these last few months in the injury department, it’s amazing to see the team even be in this position.
And while there are plenty of football fans upset over the thought of a team in the Eagles or Cowboys earning the rights to host a playoff game, this shouldn’t bother Philadelphia at all.
As for which team the Eagles could possibly face the first weekend of January, if Philadelphia were to defeat the New York Giants during Week 17 to officially win the NFC East, the attention would next shift to the Sunday night’s NFC West showdown.
With the winner of Sunday’s game between the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers determining the NFC West champion along with a potential No. 1 seed, one can only imagine the intensity from this contest.
Most importantly for the Eagles, the loser from this contest could potentially be their first matchup of the playoffs during Wild Card Weekend if all goes well in Week 17.
Either team would obviously have the potential to cause all sorts of problems for Philadelphia, but one surprise storyline worth keeping an eye on for the Eagles as well now should be the possibility of having to face Marshawn Lynch.
That’s right, Philadelphia could end up seeing Lynch if the running back decides to come out of retirement, and re-join the Seahawks since the team has been dealing with all sorts of injuries at the position.
Nothing is set in stone at the moment, and there’s no way of telling what kind of impact Lynch would be able to make if this reunion in Seattle were to take place since the veteran running back hasn’t played all year, but it sure would be interesting.
Lynch seems like the perfect candidate who would be able to spend an entire year away from football, and pick right up where he left off to help the Seahawks make a strong push for a trip to the Super Bowl.
But before the Eagles focus too much attention on the possibility of having to face Lynch in a few weeks, all of the attention needs to be on making sure they defeat the Giants on Sunday so the team is actually in position to potentially face the Seahawks.
