Philadelphia Eagles Roundup: Dallas’ bad day, Zach Ertz chases a legend
Dallas’ bad night doesn’t end just because their bad game did, and Zach Ertz continues to chase a team legend. It’s all here on Philadelphia Eagles Roundup.
Well, no one who cheers for the Philadelphia Eagles is going to shed a tear over some Dallas Cowboys misfortune. More on that in a second. Let’s start this edition of ‘The Roundup’ with some news on the legendary career of tight end Zach Ertz.
We’ll all be patiently awaiting the news of how he’s progressing following a violent shot that would have broken several ribs if they were attached to any normal man. Ertz left the playing field briefly, but he returned and in a very brave effort tallied four catches for 28 yards, including one that set up a first-and-goal in the second half.
That led to a Miles Sanders rushing touchdown that increased Philly’s lead to 17-6 at the time. That part you know, but what you may have missed is Ertz’s four catches means he’s only 68 receptions shy of tying the great Harold Carmichael, who learned three days earlier that he was a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of fame’s 2020 class.
That’s a great job by two great Eagles that needed to be mentioned. Now, let’s move on to a disastrous night for the Dallas Cowboys. Is anyone else smiling?
Did you hear the latest Cowboys joke?
Perhaps the only bad news that will come out of the Cowboys’ 17-9 loss that may have cost them a division title and the horrific day Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott had (25 for 44 with 265 yards passing and 13 carries for 47 yards respectively) is the fact that Dallas probably will give Jason Garrett the ax now and find someone who can coach. Until that happens, however, we can all bask in the glow of Philly snapping their four-game losing streak to that so-called America’s team.
For those looking to kick Cowboys fans while they’re down, here’s something you may find funny. On their way out of Philly, the Cowboys had a few issues at the airport. take a look at this one.
You can call it immature, cynical, or whatever you want, but let’s all be honest here. It is kind of funny, isn’t it? We can’t wait to see the conspiracy theories that come out of this one. Anyway, life goes on.
The Philadelphia Eagles travel to MetLife Stadium to meet the New York Giants in Week 17. A win gives the ‘Birds’ the NFC East’s crown and ensures they’ll be hosting a playoff game in the NFC Playoffs. Let’s all enjoy this Week 16 victory for a few more hours and then get back to work. It’s officially ‘Giants Week’ again.
