2. No Ertz in passing game

When taking into consideration the Eagles were already one of the biggest victims of the injury bug this season, the last thing the offense could afford to see happen was the loss of Zach Ertz during last weekend’s win over the Cowboys.

It was one thing for Ertz to be dealing with a rib injury since the star tight end seemed determined to fight through the pain, but seeing him also pop up on the injury report this week with a back injury made it seem like he would be forced to miss Sunday’s game, which is exactly the case.

Even if the Eagles have plenty of reasons to feel confident in Dallas Goedert filling in after the tight end displayed his best game of 2019 in the win over the Cowboys, no one needs to explain what kind of difference maker Ertz is when healthy.

As one of the league’s top pass-catching tight ends, the loss of Ertz couldn’t have come at a worse time for Philadelphia with the chance to win the NFC East.

And with the Eagles already missing their top three wide receivers due to injuries as well, Ertz being ruled out seemed like the icing on the cake in regards to the injury department.
