Everyone’s got their opinion on what this Seahawks team is and how they match up with the Philadelphia Eagles. What happens when we pick Pete Carroll’s brain?

Seeing as how no one’s able to board a plane and connect with the coaches and media of every Philadelphia Eagles opponent on a consistent week-to-week basis, the Philly media makes a habit of getting the upcoming opponent’s head coach on the phone during the week leading up to the next game.

This week, Philly’s opponent is obviously the Seattle Seahawks. Their head man, Pete Carroll had a lot to say earlier this week. Here are a few of the highlights.

1. How has this team constructed a 7-1 record?

"Leadership is really important. I think Bobby Wagner and Russell (Wilson) and K.J. Wright and those guys do a great job of giving our guys the sense that they’re going to be okay regardless of where we play."

2. What’s his assessment of Carson Wentz and this Eagles team?

"I don’t know what Miles Sanders deal is, but Boston Scott is so much in the same vein… They know how to use their guys, and so we’re just going to expect them to continue to do as they do."

3. What’s different about this Eagles team than the one he last saw?

"They’ve rallied well. They’ve played like a championship team down the stretch, and to put together the four games to win (the division). It just shows that their leadership and the coaches on down is really strong. I’ve admitably watched them hang tough and put together a great finish to the year."

4. How do roles change with your team given all of the injuries?

"It is what it is. We just kind of have to deal with what’s dealt to us. You make the adjustments, and you count on the guys to come through and make the plays and play like the guy who just left. (The team) has done a great job of that (and) overcoming tremendous odds… We’re in a mode of bringing up some young guys and inserting some guys from the outside… It’s a big survival challenge for us, for both teams."

5. Is ‘Beast Mode’ back?

"We kind of had a thought that ‘let’s not overdo it (with him) in the first half. Let’s get him going and play him a little more in the secind half. We kind of got a chance to do that just to break him back in. He needed to knock the rust off just like anybody else. He kind of had a couple of runs where he just spurted through there. He got a feel for the game so we should be taking the next step forward this week with him."

We all have our theories. Those are a few that come straight from the source. Sunday’s Wild Card game figures to be very interesting.
