As exciting as it is to hear Zach Ertz could play for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, the team still need to be cautious over their beloved tight end.

When looking at all of the previous injuries the Philadelphia Eagles were already forced to overcome, it was devastating to watch Zach Ertz suffer a rib injury during the team’s Week 16 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

To top it off, the Eagles later revealed that Ertz was dealing with a kidney injury as well, making it easy to understand why the star tight end was forced to miss the regular-season finale against the New York Giants last Sunday.

But despite all of this, there was talk all week about the possibility of Ertz being able to suit up for Sunday’s first playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks, which seems to be more realistic as of Saturday afternoon.

Plenty could still happen over the next day or so, but just seeing Ertz be in this current position when his injuries seemed to be season-ending.

However, this also puts Philadelphia in a difficult position since as great as it could be to have Ertz part of the action when facing Seattle, the last thing they want to risk is making the injury worse.

Just the fact there were discussions surrounding Ertz possibly being done for the year shows the seriousness of the injuries, and the Eagles need to be cautious about the long run.

No one needs to explain just how frustrating the last few months have been for Philadelphia in the injury department, and the last thing they can afford is to see Ertz suit up on Sunday, only to make the situation worse heading into the offseason.

After losing to the Seahawks at the end of November, the Eagles are going to need all the extra help possible on offense just to have a fighting chance during the Wild Card Round.

Time will tell when it comes to seeing whether Ertz will be able to play, but if the tight end does start, here’s to hoping the decision doesn’t backfire on both parties.

Otherwise, this could turn into another situation the Eagles have to worry about in the offseason, which no one wants to see since there are already plenty of other concerns when it comes to injuries.
