Over the last three years, Darby has certainly been great at times for Philadelphia’s defense, but unfortunately staying healthy is what has been a major issue.
The fact that Darby has dealt with some sort of major injury in each of the last three seasons shows the kind of risk the Eagles would be taking if they were to bring him back for a fourth year with the team.
After suffering a torn ACL towards the end of 2018, Philadelphia knew they had nothing to lose in signing Darby to a one-year deal for 2019, and while it was great to see him appear in 11 games, his season did come to an end early after Week 16 due to a hip injury.
Entering the offseason, the cornerback position is going to be one of the top needs for the Eagles to improve on since their current group is young and inconsistent at times.
Depending on what kind of deal Darby would be looking for, Philadelphia could benefit from another favorable contract like this past season, but also would most likely be better off focusing on potential replacements.
