1 Reason for and against Eagles keeping Jason Peters one more year
Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Peters isn’t ready to call it a career. Here’s one reason why he both should and shouldn’t be in Philly in 2020.
‘The Bodyguard’ has spoken. Philadelphia Eagles legend and nine-time Pro Bowl left tackle Jason Peters isn’t ready to call it a career, but will he play in the ‘City of Brotherly Love’ next season? That’s a question that’s been asked by everyone who follows this team or calls themselves a fan.
Here’s what we know. Peters is a shoo-in for enshrinement in the Eagles Hall of Fame and most-likely a lock to have a bust carved in Canton, Ohio.
In one of the smartest moves that the franchise has ever made, the Eagles traded their first-round pick and a fourth-round pick in 2009’s NFL Draft a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft on April 17th of 2009 to the Buffalo Bills to acquire Peters’ services.
The Eagles locked down their left tackle spot for the next eleven seasons. The Bills got center Eric Wood, tight end Shawn Nelson, and linebacker Danny Batten out of the deal. It appears that Philly got the better end of that transaction. We’ve long known that ’71’ wanted to end his career as an Eagle. We also know he wants to play in 2020. It’s going to be hard to make both of those things happen.
It also appears that he may have played his final game in an Eagles jersey. Here’s one reason why he both should and shouldn’t leave.
