5 Philadelphia Eagles options at DC if Jim Schwartz isn’t back in 2020
Marvin Lewis, currently a special advisor for Arizona State
Does anyone else wonder if Mike Brown and the Cincinnati Bengals brass sit up at night and think about what Marvin Lewis might be doing? Say what you want to say about the former Bengals head man, but if Kimo von Oelhoffen doesn’t roll over onto Carson Palmer‘s leg, both Lewis’ coaching resume and Carson Palmer’s career in Cincy are probably a whole lot different than how they turned out.
As it stands now, Marvin Lewis’ coaching resume is one that’s kind of hard to explain to people.
Sometimes it felt like forever, and sometimes, it seems like it flew by but Lewis spent 16 seasons as the Bengals head coach. People say he did an awful job, but here’s what we know. The Bengals made the playoffs in seven of those 16 seasons. While that isn’t staggering, the Bengals never won before he got there and they haven’t won since he left.
Before that, he was the defensive coordinator and helped craft what was without question one of the best defenses of all time behind the 1985 Chicago Bears. Just in case you’re hazy, that would be a Baltimore Ravens team that won Super Bowl 35. He’s currently a special advisor for the Arizona State Sun Devils, but it’s hard to imagine that he’s lost his touch that much.
